Job Summary:
The Facilities Maintenance Technician performs skilled and semi-skilled work including carpentry masonry painting and plumbing installation. Assists with cleaning spills trash removal and janitorial.
Essential Functions:
- Performs preventive maintenance and repair of Rheinmetall leased properties; responds to work order requests and keeps reports and records of completed jobs.
- Performs skilled and semi-skilled labor related to the maintenance repair and modification of buildings and facilities; performs minor carpentry electrical masonry janitorial and plumbing work.
- Performs routine painting of interior surfaces; moves and secures furniture wall fixtures equipment and a variety of floor coverings; determines supplies needs and prepares orders for supplies and materials.
- Ensures cleanliness of the Rheinmetalls interior and exterior premises cleans windows cleans and sanitizes spills and debris.
- Modifies and repairs plumbing fixtures including toilets sinks or related elements.
- Completes and maintains safety checklists and safety reports; checks emergency lights smoke detectors fire extinguishers and other items on the checklist; responds to alarm detection and security breach warnings in buildings.
- Uses and maintains a wide variety of hand power and shop tools as well as test equipment related to the work.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (as demonstrated through experience training and/or testing)
- Knowledge of tools materials and techniques used in the maintenance and repair of residential and commercial buildings.
- Understanding of building codes safety regulations and sanitation standards.
- Skilled in carpentry plumbing and electrical work including the use of specialized tools and equipment.
- Ability to safely operate and maintain construction and maintenance equipment.
- Proficient in storing tracking and issuing supplies and maintaining accurate records.
- Capable of following verbal and written instructions setting priorities and working independently.
- Comfortable using computers and relevant software to support maintenance tasks.
- Methods practices materials tools and equipment used in the installation repair adjustment and maintenance of equipment common to residential and commercial buildings.
Education:
- Highschool Diploma or GED required.
- Working experience in building trades or training in construction management facilities planning construction technology or a related field preferred.
Experience:
- At least 2 years experience in general building maintenance and repair.
Background Prerequisites:
- Possession of a valid Michigan Drivers License a satisfactory driving record and a properly registered and insured vehicle to be maintained throughout employment.
- Must undergo and meet company standards for background check employment verification reference checks and controlled substance testing.

- Ability to bend stoop kneel reach push and pull as needed throughout the workday.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods approximately 80% of the shift.
- Capable of working in dynamic and sometimes challenging site conditions including moving across level uneven or slippery surfaces.
- Regularly required to perform tasks involving reaching twisting turning kneeling and bending.
- Must be able to safely lift carry push or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis.
- Willingness to work in environments where there may be exposure to potentially hazardous materials following all appropriate safety protocols.
