Facilities Maintenance Engineer Restaurants

Job Summary
OVERALL
Reporting to our Director of Restaurants the Facilities Maintenance Engineer ensures the efficient operation of the facilities and equipment at all of our restaurants.. Responsibilities include maintaining mechanical electrical plumbing refrigeration and HVAC systems. You will also be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and responding to maintenance issues promptly to minimize guest impact employee safety and downtime. This is a full time hourly non- exempt position.
EVERYDAY ESSENTIAL TASKS
- Preventive Maintenance: Develop a schedule and oversee routine servicing for critical restaurant equipment HVAC systems refrigeration units and plumbing to avoid sudden disruptions.
- Consults with restaurant management to identify repair or maintenance requirements for restaurant operational critical items including HVAC fryers ovens make tables & walk in coolers.
- Work closely with restaurant management to prioritize maintenance needs.
- Keep detailed records of maintenance activities including repairs inspections and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Conduct regular inspections of the dining room kitchen and exterior grounds to identify structural issues lighting failures or aesthetic wear and tear.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns diagnose faults and execute repairs within the scope of general maintenance expertise to minimize production disruptions.
- Coordinate with vendors or contractors for specialized repairs when necessary. Manages contractors and vendors on projects.
- Provide regular updates on maintenance progress and completion.
- Order and manage stock for facility supplies light bulbs cleaning agents and minor repair parts. Source and order spare parts and equipment as needed ensuring the availability of necessary components for repairs and maintenance within the general maintenance domain subject to approval by the restaurant General Manager/Dir. Of Restaurants.
- Unclog repair and maintain drain lines and plumbing systems.
- Conduct lighting maintenance including bulb and ballast replacement and troubleshoot electrical issues.
- Repair or replace electrical outlets switches and wiring.
- Perform minor carpentry painting and sealing to prevent structural deterioration.
- Maintain equipment such as door hardware hinges and locks.
- Inspect and maintain restaurant seating booths and other furnishings
- Specifically prohibited from attempting repairs outside your area of expertise.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for oneself other employees and guests
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in maintenance or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a maintenance technician preferably with a working knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment basic plumbing and electrical systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals schematics and engineering drawings.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and commitment to maintain a safe workplace.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent time management and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Excellent written communication and documentation skills
- Skilled in accurate record keeping and reporting
- Takes initiative detail oriented with awareness of the larger picture
- Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment with a growing company
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation to travel between locations.
PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Able to stand walk and be on your feet for prolonged periods
- Able to maneuver on uneven ground
- Able to read and follow written English instructions
- Able to regularly twist turn kneel climb stoop bend and occasionally crawl
- Lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds using appropriate techniques and tools
- Able to safely navigate crowded spaces
- Operate food preparation appliances and machinery
- Able to tolerate exposure to extreme changes in temperature
- Able perform daily repetitive hand movements as it pertains to food preparation
- Able to maneuver packages of any weight above 75 pounds with appropriate equipment and/or assistance
- Able to move 165-pounds using appropriate techniques and tools
- Able to work in a production environment which may be loud slick humid cold and hot
- Able to work in indoor and outdoor environments with moderate noise and occasionally slippery floors
- Able to comply with and enforce all health safety and personal hygiene policies and standards.

What started as a neighborhood brewery restaurant in Downtown Monterey has evolved into three locations dedicated to serving Monterey countys locals and visitors alike. Our production brewery & tasting room opened in the Spreckels Junction area of Salinas in 2016. In early 2018 we opened our R&D pilot brewery and bistro in Carmel-by-the-Sea known as the Stro.
