Fabrication Shop CNC Operator

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in the areas of Information Technology Test & Evaluation Program Mission Support Engineering & Analysis and Training.

• The W37 Machine Shop manufactures prototypes and test apparatus hardware supporting Joint Interservice and service-specific experiments assessments and demonstrations.
• The Engineering Technician will support all aspects of the manufacturing process including design for manufacturability analysis and administrative record keeping.
• Responsibilities include:
  • Setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments
  • Working closely with engineers and designers to bring new concepts to life
  • Fabricating modifying and repairing prototype components.
• This role requires a high degree of precision attention to detail and the ability to interpret a technical data package (Drawings CAD Models sketches).

• A minimum of a current SECRET Clearance is required
• A minimum of 5 years of manufacturing training or similar industrial experience.

Experience in:

• Setting up and operating both CNC and manual machine tools including lathes mills laser etchers waterjets and EDM machines to produce high-quality prototype parts.
• Fabricating modifying and assembling prototype components from a variety of materials including metals (aluminum steel titanium) and plastics.
• Performing in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments (calipers micrometers CMM) to ensure parts meet strict tolerance and quality standards.
• Working directly with the engineering and design teams to provide feedback on part manufacturability suggest design improvements and troubleshoot issues.
