Summary of Job Duties:
The Extra Help Research Assistant/Tractor Operator reports to the Farm Manager and supports research and teaching operations in small plot research row crop production and overall farm maintenance. This is a part time position working 25-40 hours. The role requires:
Operation of tractors trucks and harvesting equipment
Application of fertilizers and pesticides (regulated tasks)
Equipment attachment maintenance and repair
Irrigation system setup and monitoring
Manual crop maintenance (weeding pruning thinning)
Loading/unloading materials and operating forklifts
Supporting faculty-led research and instructional activities

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience working on a farm.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of agricultural practices and farm operations.
  • Working knowledge of the safe operation maintenance and use of farm machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions.
  • Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
