Organizational Relationship

or Line of Authority:

Directly responsible to the Principal. Jointly responsible to appropriate Curriculum Supervisor.

Statement of Duties:

• • Provide individualized/small group support to the assigned student(s) during extracurricular activities ensuring their needs are met and they can participate fully.
  • Assist with the students physical emotional healthcare and social development needs as applicable.
  • Collaborate with educators support staff and the special education department to ensure a cohesive approach to meeting the students needs.
  • Implement specific strategies and accommodations tailored to the students individual education plan (IEP).
  • Foster a positive and encouraging environment that promotes confidence and self- esteem.
  • Monitor and document the students progress and any challenges faced during activities as needed.
  • Communicate with student liaison(s) as needed.

Qualifications:

• Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education required.
• Knowledge of middle school philosophy organization and curriculum.
• Understanding of the middle school student and his/her early adolescent needs.
• Knowledge of recommended middle school instructional practices.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
