Were looking for an energetic tech-savvy animal-loving multitasker to join our team as a Full-Time Veterinary Receptionist / Client Service Representative. This role is primarily focused on veterinary reception and client service while also providing opportunities to cross-train and support our boarding kennel and patient care operations as needed.

What Youll Do

Client Service and Veterinary Reception

As a Veterinary Receptionist / Client Service Representative youll be the first smile and voice our clients experience. Youll help create a warm professional and efficient experience for every client and patient.
  • Provide friendly high-quality customer service with compassion and enthusiasm
  • Greet clients and pets warmly and create a welcoming front-desk experience
  • Answer phones schedule veterinary appointments and respond to client questions
  • Collect patient histories and ensure accurate information is documented
  • Check patients in and out and communicate patient needs to the veterinary team
  • Process invoices payments estimates and other financial transactions accurately
  • Determine vaccination immunization and wellness status of incoming patients
  • Manage prescription food and product requests under veterinarian guidance
  • Accurately enter and update client and patient information in the practice management system
  • Assist with appointment confirmations reminders and client follow-up
  • Maintain a clean organized professional and welcoming reception area
  • Communicate effectively with veterinarians veterinary technicians assistants and management
  • Help create a next-level client experience from the first phone call through checkout
Boarding Kennel and Patient Care Support
While reception and client service will be the primary focus of this position youll also have opportunities to cross-train and provide support to our boarding and kennel operations as needed.
  • Assist with the daily care and monitoring of boarding and hospitalized patients
  • Feed walk exercise and provide basic care for boarding pets according to established instructions
  • Monitor pets for changes in appetite behavior comfort or overall condition and communicate concerns to the appropriate team member
  • Assist with safe and compassionate animal handling and restraint when appropriate
  • Help maintain clean sanitary organized kennels runs treatment areas and patient spaces
  • Assist with laundry stocking cleaning and other hospital support duties
  • Provide additional support to the veterinary team during busy periods
  • Learn additional hospital and patient-care responsibilities through cross-training
Note: This is primarily a Veterinary Receptionist / Client Service position. Boarding and kennel responsibilities will be incorporated into the role as needed with training provided to help you become a versatile member of the Barkfield team.

What Were Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of veterinary medical customer service or reception experience preferred
  • Previous veterinary reception or animal hospital experience is a plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable answering phones and interacting with clients in person
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable learning practice management software email and digital communication tools
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced veterinary environment
  • Team-oriented with a positive can-do attitude
  • Compassionate toward pets and their people
  • Comfortable learning new responsibilities and cross-training in different areas of the hospital
  • Dependable punctual and willing to jump in wherever the team needs support
  • Comfortable safely handling and caring for dogs and cats
  • Ability to lift up to 3050 lbs. as needed
  • Availability to work occasional weekends as needed

This is a full-time position supporting Barkfields veterinary reception and client service team with cross-training opportunities in boarding and kennel operations.

Our team works together to ensure our clients patients and boarding pets receive excellent care throughout their time with us.
