Your Impact


Quality Control & Return Review
Perform initial review of federal state and local tax returns for mathematical accuracy proper data input
and correct classification of income deductions and credits.
Verify that supporting documentation is present properly referenced and internally consistent across all
forms and schedules.
Document review findings and questions for preparer follow-up using the firms internal QC checklist.
Technical Guidance & Staff Development
Communicate review findings clearly and constructively to preparers explaining proper tax treatment and
applicable law.
Mentor junior staff and answer preparer questions throughout the return preparation process.
Escalate complex technical issues to the Tax Manager with analysis and recommendations.
IRS Notices & Client Correspondence
Review tax notices to determine required action and response timelines; resolve straightforward issues independently.
Gather client documentation and prepare written responses following firm templates and procedures.
Keep the Tax Manager and clients informed of resolution progress and track notice status in the client management system.
Tax Research
Research complex or unusual tax issues using IRS publications tax code regulations and firm resources.
Document research findings for Tax Manager review and contribute to a shared library of common research issues.
Client Files & Workflow
Maintain accurate client files and update practice management systems to reflect current task status.
Monitor the review queue prioritize by deadline and support the departments goal of 100% on-time delivery.
Professional Development
Complete required CPE hours annually and attend internal training sessions on tax updates and firm
procedures.
Stay current on recent tax legislation and IRS guidance and share relevant updates with the team.
Develop deep expertise in specific tax areas to serve as a team resource.

Drive quality improvements by identifying error patterns and recommending training checklist enhancements and best practices.
Coach and develop junior staff to build team capability and support succession planning within the tax department.

Qualifications

Demonstrated experience preparing and/or reviewing federal state and local tax returns.
Strong working knowledge of tax software and practice management systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain tax treatment to preparers and clients alike.
CPA or EA (or progress toward licensure) preferred.
Strong organizational skills and comfort managing a review queue against firm deadlines.
