JOB SUMMARY

The Expanded Learning Site Director (ExLD) oversees the ongoing planning and operations of a high-quality education program for students and upholds the mission and values of Aspire Public Schools. This includes training and managing a team of After School Educators to meet the academic social-emotional behavioral and physical needs of all students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Expanded Learning Site Director (ExLD) School Program Daily Operations:

  • Work closely with the Principal and leadership team at the school site to create an After School Program that aligns with the vision and goals of the overall school site

  • Oversee after school program throughout the school year including select intersessional days.

  • Communicate regularly with parents/families to engage them in the After School Program to help support student success

  • Design and manage student and staff schedules for the After School Program.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure successful nutrition supper and snacks needs and requirement are met for scholars during After School Program hours

  • Open and close program on a daily basis

  • Track student information and maintains accurate student records including attendance in accordance with Aspire procedures

  • Record teacher and staff hours and processes timesheets and other personnel documents in accordance with Aspire procedures

  • Track After School Program students academic performance to ensure continual progress

  • Support classroom systems/procedures and helps manage student behavior to ensure all students are safe and fully engaged in learning


Team Leadership:

  • Create an environment of high expectations for learning student behavior and staff professionalism

  • Foster a program culture of high expectations that includes college preparation for all students and enrichment beyond the core academic program

  • Collaborate with Aspire team members to share best practices and improve own and others instructional skills including actively participating in professional development training and coaching opportunities

  • Facilitate training and professional development for After School Program staff

  • Hire evaluate and coach After School Program staff

Additional:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of and support the Aspire Public Schools mission vision value statements including antiracism policies and procedures operating instructions confidentiality standards and the code of ethical behavior

  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Competencies:

  • Proven ability to provide timely and meaningful financial analysis in a dynamic high-growth work environment

  • Strong organizational and administrative skills including ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple responsibilities and deadlines

  • Proficiency in use of computer technology and the internet including MS Word and Excel

  • Demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team and to facilitate teamwork to complete complex projects

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate with a variety of colleagues and stakeholders including parents teachers and community partners

  • Ability and willingness to implement Aspire Instructional Guidelines and Best Practices

  • Ability and willingness to reflect and improve own performance

  • Knowledge of child and/or youth development concepts and different learning styles; demonstrated enthusiasm for working with young people

  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and experience training adults highly desired

  1. Minimum educational level: Please include proof of minimum requirement in your application

  • Associates degree or successful completion of 48 units of college credit required

  • Bachelors and/or Masters preferred

  1. Experience required:

  • A minimum of 1 year as a teacher teacher intern or teaching assistant preferred

  • Management experience in a nonprofit school or service business preferred

  1. Physical requirements:

  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces

  • Remaining in a stationary position often standing or sitting for prolonged periods

  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another

  • Assessing the accuracy neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned

  • Communicating with others to exchange information

  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists hands and/or fingers

  1. Work authorization requirements:

  • Clear the Department of Justice background screening

  • Authorized to work in the United States

  • Provide health (TB) clearance (most update every four years)

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics are representative of those in a normal office classroom/school setting which one might encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.   • Work indoors in a standard office environment computer lab and/or classroom environment

  • Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments

  • Exposure to dust oils and cleaning chemicals

  • Some exposure to childhood and other diseases in a school environment

  • May be required to work outside of typical work days and office hours to meet operational deadlines
