Job Summary

Position Summary

The Excavator Operator is responsible for the safe and productive operation of excavators and related heavy equipment on demolition projects. This position performs structural demolition material handling loading site preparation and debris management while maintaining compliance with all safety and environmental requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate excavators equipped with buckets grapples shears hammers processors and other attachments.
  • Perform structural demolition of commercial industrial and residential facilities.
  • Load trucks and containers with demolition debris and recyclable materials.
  • Sort and segregate materials for recycling and disposal.
  • Assist with site preparation grading excavation and backfilling activities.
  • Conduct daily inspections and basic maintenance of assigned equipment.
  • Identify equipment issues and coordinate repairs through supervisors and maintenance personnel.
  • Follow demolition plans and work instructions provided by project management.
  • Work safely around utilities structures personnel and equipment.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Participate in safety meetings and job hazard analyses.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of excavator operating experience preferred.
  • Demolition experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience operating multiple attachments including grapples shears and hydraulic hammers.
  • Valid drivers license required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of demolition methods and equipment.
  • Ability to safely dismantle structures while protecting adjacent property and utilities.
  • Ability to interpret demolition plans and project specifications.
  • Strong situational awareness and attention to safety.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment.
  • Ability to climb on and off equipment multiple times daily.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Work Environment

Work is performed at active demolition and construction sites. Exposure to dust noise vibration traffic and changing site conditions should be expected.
