Location: Traverse City MI On-site. This is a hands-on field leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys being on the jobsite leading crews operating equipment and seeing projects progress from start to finish.

Note: Must have at least 3 years of excavation experience a valid drivers license with a clean driving record and hands-on proficiency operating excavation equipment.

Job Description

  • Lead and supervise excavation and site development crews to deliver safe efficient high-quality work.
  • Coordinate daily crew activities jobsite priorities equipment materials and deliveries.
  • Partner with project managers subcontractors inspectors customers and owners to keep projects moving and resolve field issues.
  • Communicate clearly with crews and project stakeholders to maintain productivity quality and safety.
  • Anticipate jobsite needs take initiative and keep work progressing toward successful completion.
  • Operate excavation equipment hand tools power tools and other heavy equipment as needed.
  • Assist with field labor when necessary and lead by example on the jobsite.
  • Complete daily documentation including job hazard forms toolbox talks equipment time reports and work orders.
  • Read and interpret construction plans blueprints surveys and job specifications.
  • Monitor equipment condition maintain clean and organized equipment and coordinate repairs or scheduled maintenance.
  • Enforce company safety policies procedures applicable codes and regulatory requirements.
  • Help create a positive accountable and collaborative jobsite environment where crews can perform at their best.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of excavation experience required.
  • Previous crew leadership or foreman experience preferred.
  • Strong proficiency operating excavation and heavy equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and blueprints.
  • Strong mathematical skills for interpreting surveys measurements and job specifications.
  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong communication organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Positive dependable work ethic with a hands-on can-do attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and lead others in the field.
