Job Summary

The opportunity The Jewish Museum of Maryland (JMM) seeks a part-time Events Coordinator to join a team that deeply appreciates the role of museums in building community exploring identity and activating Jewish values. Reporting to the Director of Public Programs this position provides essential administrative and logistical support across all stages of program planning and delivery. The ideal candidate is organized reliable and comfortable working both behind the scenes and in public-facing roleshelping ensure that each program is welcoming well-executed and responsibilities Support the Director of Public Programs in planning developing and evaluating programs aligned with departmental goals and review of program proposals providing input on format content and identify and book speakers performers program partners and vendors and provide logistical support for each throughout the program process including coordinating travel and hospitality for visiting supportive and collaborative relationships with presenters scholars speakers artists and community locally to pick up program supplies and organize program resources including catering orders materials and event marketing and social media copy for programs in collaboration with internal and external up and maintain event listings in Altru Facebook Zoom and other digital with the development of run-of-show documents event layouts and staffing/volunteer program set-up and break-down including light facilities work and catering preparation and coordination with front of house production studio custodial security and other programs as needed and serve as a point of contact for the public at programs both on-site and and track invoices and program-related payments and manage program files including RSVP and registrants lists program working documents and program documentation the physical setup of programs including lifting and moving up to 25 you will possess to be successful You will exemplify our core value of continuous learning. You will take an entrepreneurial and creative approach to developing new innovative ideas that will evolve the organization and push the boundaries of the field. Qualifications and skills The position requires a combination of strong professional credentials and demonstrated skills and success in coordinating public programs. The successful candidate should present most of the following: 2 years of experience in cultural programming live event coordination or related fieldsAbility to work some regular evenings and weekends as programs require including recurring SundaysFamiliarity with Zoom social media platforms and event management software (Altru Blackbaud experience is a plus)Ability to hold space for a range of participant experiences and emotions foster calm and navigate challenging interactions within a fast-paced public-facing settingDemonstrated success in working with a culturally diverse communityAbility to adapt and be flexible in a dynamic work environment Ability to respond to others with empathy patience clarity and careDemonstrated ability to take initiative anticipate needs and implement improvements that benefit visitors volunteers and staffExperience and comfort with public speakingAbility to successfully interact and collaborate with key stakeholders to achieve results including program presenters vendors and lay leaders Experience working within a Jewish communal setting a plusNote on qualifications:No one candidate will be perfect for this job. If you are interested in this position please we offer:The hourly rate for this part-time position is $29.00 based on a sixteen-hour work week. Work schedules are developed in collaboration with supervisors within the Museums business hours. Part-time schedules are typically three or four days per week. This position includes 48 hours of vacation (representing three standard work weeks) and 28 hours of sick time (representing 1.75 standard work weeks) per year. Vacation and sick time are only to be applied toward established work schedulesJMM staff are unionized within Teamsters Local 355. This is a bargaining unit position. We close the Museum for the following Jewish holidays when they fall within JMM business hours: Rosh Hashana Yom Kippur the first two days of Sukkot Shemini Atzeret Simchat Torah Shavuot and the first and last two days of close the Museum for New Years Day MLK Day Memorial Day Juneteenth July 4 Labor Day Thanksgiving and the day following offer a work environment that supports professional development and to expect: Step one:All submissions will be reviewed and the initial candidate pool will be formed. Not all submissions will make it into the candidate pool. Once the pool of candidates is established a brief phone interview will be set up with a member of the Human Resources staff. Step two:Remaining candidates will take part in no more than two interviews with members of the Jewish Museum of Maryland team via Zoom or in-person. The final candidate will be selected after this interview. Step Three:Selection and placement of the final candidate. Placement for this position is anticipated to occur in July 2026.
