Adult Education Part-Time Evening ESL Teacher
Location: Watertown High School 324 French St Watertown CT

Reports to: Director ofAdult Education

Part-Time: 6:00 - 8:00 PM onMondays & Wednesdays

Salary: $33.10/hour

The position is open until filled - anticipated start date: August 15 2026

Job Description:Provides high-quality English language instruction to adult learners delivering standards-based lessons that promote English proficiency workforce readiness and successful achievement of students educational and personal goals.
Major Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver instruction aligned with English Language Proficiency (ELP)standards.
• Create a positive learning environment that is supportive and safe for all learners
• Use a variety of instructional strategies to engage learners and develop sound foundational skills and transferable speaking &literacy skills

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

• Sensitive to the needs of adult learners aged 18
• Knowledge of a wide variety of strategies and linguistic supports to support instruction
• Ability to use classroom technology such as a laptop projector and interactive board to enhance instruction

Qualifications/Requirements:

• CT Certification #088 (Non-English Speaking Adults) isrequired.
• A bachelors degree is required; Bachelors or Masters degree in education is preferred
• Demonstrated ability to work well with people from many different backgrounds and cultures
• Experience teaching adult learners who speak multiple languages
• Attuned to the specific learning needs of adult students.
