Join the growing MasTec Civil Estimating team as a Heavy Civil Estimator!
This position is associated with a professional who had previous estimating knowledge or has worked in a construction project such as field engineer office engineer project engineer or project manager on heavy civil highway or bridge projects.
This candidate must be a self-motivated person willing to collaborate with peers and constantly strives to identify problems and solutions.
**Location will be in the Nashville TN area. Candidate must be willing to work some days in the office.

- Understand bid items basis of estimate skills to identify errors and discrepancies in plans specifications and solutions.
- Wide understandings reading plans specifications request for proposal request for information addendums technical special provisions etc.
- Understand bid strategy cost savings initiative and management skills.
- Perform accurate and within the time frame quantity takeoffs.
- Bid review with senior estimators.
- Choosing the right means and methods (crew size/ productivity rate) during cost determination.
- Obtains clarifications on plans and specifications from owner or engineer of records.
- Coordinate and invite suppliers and subcontractors to quote scopes of work.
- Analyzes suppliers and subcontractor pricing (inclusions/exclusions/risk).
- Analyzes unit cost of pay items.
- Assists pre-bid meeting and bid submittals.
- Keep updated information regarding commodity trade prices.
- Keep abreast of construction technologies and techniques.
- Continually expand knowledge in construction individual skills and performance.
- Communicate with field personnel (project engineer superintendent foreman fleet manager etc.) to track and adjust as necessary unit costs.
- B.S. in Engineering or Construction Management degree. Minimum 5 years of experience in Heavy Civil: field position or Estimator in the USA.
- Possess good organization skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have knowledge in bridge and roadway construction.
- Savvy in foundations concrete structures temporary structural systems underground and utility work earthwork signalization roadway lighting and signing intelligent transportation system safety standards etc.
- Knowledgeable in design-build and design-bid-build contracts with DOT.
- Learn quickly and develop new skills.
- Must be proficient using computer HCSS/Heavy Bid (estimating software) Bluebeam Microsoft Software (Excel Word Power point Outlook) P6 Primavera and others
- Possess high work values integrity and ethical standards.
- Possess great focus to meet and exceed company requirements and expectations.
