Estimator – Dredging & Marine Construction

Location: Houston TX (In-Office Only)
Salary Range: $100000 – $150000 (commensurate with experience)
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Estimator with a strong background in dredging and/or marine construction to support the preparation of accurate competitive bids for private industrial and public-sector marine infrastructure projects. This position is based full-time in our Houston Texas office and works closely with operations project management and company leadership.

The ideal candidate understands marine construction means and methods and can translate field execution into reliable cost estimates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals for dredging and marine construction projects
  • Estimate private industrial marine work as well as public projects (USACE ports municipalities)
  • Review and analyze plans specifications geotechnical reports and bid documents
  • Perform quantity take-offs for hydraulic and mechanical dredging pipeline turbidity curtains disposal areas shoreline protection and marine structures
  • Develop pricing for labor (including prevailing wage when applicable) equipment fuel materials subcontractors and logistics
  • Solicit review and level vendor and subcontractor quotes
  • Assist with means and methods development in coordination with operations
  • Prepare bid assumptions clarifications and schedules
  • Support change orders cost revisions and post-award reviews
  • Maintain and refine historical cost data and estimating models

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years estimating experience in dredging marine construction or heavy civil construction
  • Demonstrated experience with marine construction or dredging projects
  • Strong understanding of marine equipment production rates marine logistics and constructability
  • Proficiency in Excel and construction estimating software
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong analytical organizational and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with private industrial marine projects
  • Familiarity with USACE contracts and public procurement processes
  • Knowledge of Davis-Bacon and prevailing wage requirements
  • Hydraulic dredging experience
  • Engineering or Construction Management degree preferred but not required

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary of $100000 – $150000 depending on experience
