Job Summary

Are you a numbers-driven college or high school student interested in how construction projects come together before the first shovel hits the ground

As an Estimating Co-op at our company youll gain hands-on experience in preconstruction and bidding processes that lay the foundation for successful infrastructure and heavy civil projects. This role is ideal for students looking to develop analytical technical and industry-specific skills in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in preparing quantity takeoffs and basic cost estimates from plans and specifications.
Support estimators in compiling bid packages and project documentation.
Help track subcontractor and supplier quotes; assist with bid solicitations.
Organize and maintain digital and physical bid files.
Use estimating software and tools (e.g. Bluebeam HCSS or Excel) for plan review and data entry.
Participate in pre-bid meetings job site visits or proposal development as needed.
Collaborate with the estimating team and other departments for cross-functional learning.

Desired Qualifications:

Students currently enrolled in a Construction Management Civil Engineering or related program as well as motivated high school students interested in starting a career in construction.
Strong math and analytical skills; attention to detail is a must.
Basic knowledge of reading construction drawings and project specifications preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with estimating or PDF markup software is a plus.
Strong communication and organizational abilities.
Willingness to learn take initiative and contribute to team goals.
