Paraprofessionals must meetoneof the following qualifications:
- Have 2 years of college credits or
- Have a college degree or
- Pass theParaProPraxis Assessment with a score of 457 or higher or the Idaho Paraprofessional Testing Alternative with a score of 75% or higher.
Idaho Paraprofessional Testing Alternative dates are offered throughout the year for West Ada Paraprofessionals. If you do not meet the college credit/degree requirement or have not yet passed the Praxis you will be signed up for the Idaho Paraprofessional Assessment upon hire. The test must be passed within90 daysof your start date.

PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is toassistwith intervention during the academic intervention time for studentsparticipatingin the Extended Reading Intervention program.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
This position supports the Extended Reading Intervention program at elementary schools. The primary function of an employee in this position is to support intervention for students in the ERI program. The position is directly supervised by a teacher withdirectionfrom the building Principal.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Provide literacy-based intervention support as designed by the ERI Coordinator or classroomteacher;
- Provideadditionalstudent support asdeterminedby the ERICoordinator;
- Work with students in one-on-one small group or whole group settings asdesignatedby the ERI Coordinator or classroomteacher;
- Perform all work duties and activitiesin accordance withDistrict policies procedures and safety practices.
KNOWLEDGESKILLSAND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
- Basic educational procedures andobjectives including instruction and presentation preparation of teaching materials and aids behavior management and modification and student-teacher relations andinteractions;
- Possess competence empathy and understandingwith regard tothe needs and cultures of students.
Ability to:
- Follow written and oral instructions andobservedistrict policies andprocedures;
- Maintain student school and parentalconfidentiality;
- Operate classroom instructional equipment standard office equipment and a personal computer using programsappropriate toassignedduties;
- Establish andmaintaincollaborative working relationships with students teachers and staff members and other districtpersonnel;
- Communicate effectively both orally and inwriting;
- Demonstrate integrity and ingenuity in the performance of assigned tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Highly Qualified statusrequired: have 32 college credits have a college degree or pass the Paraprofessional Assessment with a score of 460;
- Must have a valid Idaho Drivers license and a vehicle to drive and/or must provide own transportation for job related activities.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL ABILITIES
- Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities with or without reasonable accommodation whichpermitsthe employee to discern verbal conversation and to communicate effectively on the telephone and inperson;
- Sufficient visual acuity with or without reasonable accommodation whichpermitsthe employee tocomprehendwritten work and assessments prepare and review documents and organize documents andmaterials;

Performance of this position will be evaluated by the building principalin accordance withthe Boards policy on evaluations.
