Bay Beach Veterinary Emergency Hospital is seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our 24-hour emergency and critical care team. We are looking for a technician who enjoys hands-on medicine thrives in a fast-moving environment and wants to work alongside a supportive team committed to outstanding patient outcomes.

Our hospital provides around-the-clock emergency services for the pets of Virginia Beach and surrounding communities. With access to advanced diagnostic capabilities visiting specialists and an experienced medical team youll play an important role in delivering care when patients need it most.

Your Impact

As a member of our emergency nursing team youll help guide patients through every stage of their hospital stay from initial assessment through recovery and discharge.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to hospitalized patients including IV catheter placement CRI management medication administration feeding tube placement and ongoing monitoring.
  • Preparemonitor and recover patients undergoing surgical procedures ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout all phases of care.
  • Assistveterinarians during examinations diagnostics treatments and surgical procedures providing proper restraint preparation and patient monitoring.
  • Perform laboratory diagnostics including urinalysis hematologyfecals and cytology; accurately document interpret and communicate results asappropriate.
  • Operate andmaintaindiagnostic equipment including radiology and ultrasound systems in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Prepare and administer medications vaccines and treatments as prescribedmaintainingstrict compliance with DEA OSHA and hospital regulations.
  • Maintainaccuratedaily controlled drug logs and ensure proper handling storage and documentation of controlled substances.
  • Create review and enter treatment plans accurately in the medical record system.
  • Support hospital operations throughaccuratemedical recordkeeping charge entry and chart auditing.
  • Provide compassionate clear client education related to preventative care treatment plans medications products and nutritional recommendations.
  • Maintain clean organized and well-stocked treatment and surgical areas ensuring sterile conditions for medical and surgical procedures.
  • Monitor inventory levels rotate stock andassistwith ordering medical supplies as needed.
  • Promote a positive and professional workplace culture through effective communication teamwork and collaboration across departments.
  • Performadditionalduties as assigned based on hospital needs.
  • Ensure all duties are performedin accordance withstate practice acts legal requirements and hospital policies.

Qualifications

Were looking for veterinary professionals who bring clinical excellence and a commitment to compassionate care.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Licensed/Certified/Registered Veterinary Technician credential required.
  • Demonstratedproficiencyin anesthesia monitoring venipuncture laboratory procedures radiology and dentistry.
  • Basic computer literacy including the ability to navigate practice management software and use Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communicationand organizational skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Maintains professionalism composure and sound judgment in emotionally charged or high-stress situations.
  • Capable ofmultitasking in a fast-paced setting whilemaintainingaccuracy and attention to detail.
  • Compassionate and committed to delivering exceptional patient care and client service.
  • Able to work safely around cleaning chemicals anesthetic gases radiation zoonotic diseases and animal bodily fluids.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and safely handle animals up to 150 pounds.
  • Comfortable sitting standing walking bending and kneeling for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Professional neat appearance consistent with hospital standards.
Schedule Flexibility

Because we provide emergency care 24 hours a day schedules may include evenings overnights weekends or holidays. We work closely with candidates to identify shift options that match both hospital needs and individual preferences.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range: $30-$35 per hour

Additionally we offer:

  • Shift differential pay
  • Premium holiday compensation (2.5x pay)
