Work Unit
This position is in the Communications and Special Projects Unit. This unit is in the Operations Section and supports the divisions programs with respect to internal and external communications stakeholder relations special projects and business process enhancements for better transparency and efficiency.
What You Will Do
This position fulfills a term-limited strategic role within the division. The EPS II will be a key stakeholder for multiple reporting and projects coordinate and distribute reports and provide crucial communications support for the unit and division.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST II (I3A3**F)
Minimum Qualifications
Six (6) years of professional experience working in water quality or a related environmental field that included activities or responsibilities associated with technical assistance and/or regulatory compliance.
OR
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in engineering environmental science environmental studies geology physics public administration or a closely related field of study related to the work assignment
AND
two (2) years of experience working closely withinwater quality or a related environmental field that included activities or responsibilities associated with technical assistance and/or regulatory compliance.
OR
A graduate degree in biology chemistry engineering environmental science environmental studies geology physics or a closely related field will substitute for two of the years of required experience.NOTE: An applicant may meet the minimum qualifications for this job in one of two ways: They may qualify through their work experience alone or through a combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications and Essential Competencies

Experience at presenting and training various stakeholder groups

Prior technical experience with drinking water wastewater and the federal and state regulations that govern theirmaintenanceand operations.
Relevant years of State service shall be considered
Experienced and successful at providing technical assistance to a diverse customer base about protecting public health and theenvironment andcompliance with rules or regulations.
Strong leadership capacity in order to coach and mentor staff and manage group processes
Experienced with emergency management planning response and recovery efforts.
Accountable for high quality and timely work products
Critical thinker with demonstrated talent for analyzing and assessing all sides of a question or an issue in order to make a more informed decision.
Ability to present ideas accurately effectively and concisely both verbally and in writing
Results driven achieverwith exemplary planning and organizational skills
Demonstrates initiative by identifying opportunities and issues and proactively acts and follows through on work activities to capitalize or resolve them.
