Job Summary

AECOM is currently seeking an Environmental Technician to join our team in Billings MT.  In this role you will work closely with our experienced team to support remediation system operation and maintenance and environmental monitoring projects in the Montana region. You will ideally have experience with and interest in mechanical. Mechanical experience is desired and may include pump repair plumbing auto maintenance or similar. Environmental experience is not required and required safety training and on the job training will be provided.  

The responsibilities of this position include:

  • Performing routine activities associated with operation and maintenance of environmental remediation systems and general equipment maintenance.
  • Tracking operating parameters of environmental treatment systems.
  • Assisting in collection of environmental field data under the direction of experienced staff.  
  • Position will require OSHA 40-hour hazardous waste operations (HAZWOPER) and other safety training that will be provided at no cost to the successful candidate.  
  • Travel to work sites requiring overnight stay may be required up to 1 week per month.  All travel costs will be paid by AECOM.  

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 2 years of work experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license and clean driving record.
  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment physical background check and drug and alcohol screen and will be required to participate in ongoing medical surveillance and client-specific background and drug & alcohol screening as a condition of continued employment.
  • Position requires working in outdoor environments with variable conditions including heat cold dust noise moisture vibration.
  • Position requires ability to lift up to 50 lbs without assistance.
  • Position requires strict compliance with AECOM and client specific safety procedures including use of personal protective equipment provided by AECOM (gloves eye protection safety-toe shoes hard hat hearing protection and fire-resistant clothing).
  • Due to the nature of this position US citizenship is required.
  • The position is not set up for remote or hybrid work.  5 days a week on-site.  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic computer knowledge (Word excel teams etc).  
  • Mechanical skills and hands-on experience with mechanical systems.
