Job Description
Were seeking an Environmental Scientist 1 to join our Pacific Northwest team supporting the Coastal 29 Bundle 5 fish passage restoration project along Highway 109 near Moclips Washington. Serving as a Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL) youll work side by side with construction crews to keep projects in environmental compliance while helping remove culvert barriers that restore fish access to critical habitat across the Olympic Peninsula.
This is hands-on outdoor work with a real and lasting impact on Washingtons waterways and the communities they support. Core Responsibilities
As the CESCL you will work collaboratively with the onsite Deputy Environmental Compliance Manager but maintain the lead in monitoring stormwater controls conducting site inspections maintain TESC sheets and completing daily inspection reports as you will help to keep projects in compliance with environmental requirements. As individual fish habitat enhancement projects are completed you may have opportunities to work on a variety of other projects and roles throughout the company.
In addition to CESCL duties you will support ecological fieldwork and environmental planning activities such as vegetation and tree surveys wetland delineations fish exclusion and identification reviewing construction plans and specifications and assisting with technical reports and project plans.
Youll thrive here if you have
- A bachelors degree in environmental science Biology Ecology Botany Geology Engineering or a related field.
- 05 years of experience this role is a great fit for motivated early-career candidates; a background in stormwater management geology or engineering is a plus.
- Genuine enthusiasm for hands-on fieldwork and comfort working outdoors in all weather on uneven terrain and around active construction.
- A willingness to do in-water work and support fish exclusion efforts (roughly JulySeptember) including occasional 12 hour days nights and weekend shifts.
- A safety-first mindset along with punctuality self-motivation and sound judgment.
- The ability to collect precise field data using a variety of equipment and to build clear reports figures and tables in MS Excel Bluebeam and GIS.
- A valid drivers license and the ability to be onsite near Moclips WA every weekday (plus occasional weekends) JulyNovember 2026 and MayNovember 2027. Youll need a temporary or permanent residence within commuting distance for these periods.
Bonus points (great to have not required):
- CESCL (stormwater qualification) HAZWOPER or Certified Arborist certification.
- Experience with WSDOT specifications construction monitoring or working on active construction sites.
- Experience in ecological restoration wetland delineation or tree and stream evaluations.
- Familiarity with contaminated soil and groundwater assessment.

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the states law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
