Were looking for an Environmental Protection Officer to join our team and help protect the unique landscapes waterways and communities that make Marlborough such a special place to live and work.Youll spend your time out across the region visiting a wide variety of sites meeting people from all walks of life investigating issues and helping protect our environment for future generations.

At its heart this role is all about building strong relationships having meaningful conversations and using your interpersonal skills to educate influence and encourage good environmental practice across our community.When situations require a firmer approach youll be confident investigating issues fairly and objectively gathering evidence and contributing to enforcement action that supports Councils regulatory responsibilities.

This is a full-time role based in Blenheim.

You might come from an environmental compliance enforcement regulatory community engagement or investigative background but whats more important is that youre someone who:

• Loves engaging with people and building positive relationships
• Has sound judgement and isnt afraid to make decisions
• Is naturally curious and enjoys getting to the bottom of issues
• Can remain calm fair and professional in challenging situations
• Has strong communication and conflict-resolution skills
• Enjoys balancing field work investigation and problem solving

A qualification in environmental science resource management compliance or a related field would be an advantage but its not essential if you can demonstrate the right skills experience and personal attributes that were looking for.
