Environmental Planner

Muller Engineering Company is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Environmental Planner to support our transportation and water resources practices. As a member of Mullers Planning and Program Management group this individual will contribute to a variety of community and infrastructure projects through environmental analysis regulatory compliance permitting and project and program support.

This position will be responsible for conducting environmental analyses and preparing documentation in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Endangered Species Act (ESA) Clean Water Act (CWA) and other applicable federal state and local environmental regulations.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience preparing technical reports and environmental compliance documentation coordinating with regulatory agencies supporting public and stakeholder engagement and obtaining environmental permits and approvals. This individual may serve in a variety of project roles including environmental task lead project coordinator technical reviewer and document preparer.

• Knowledgeable about the NEPA process as well as Section 404 permitting Section 7/10 consultation Section 106 consultation and other applicable regulatory requirements.
• Facilitate meetings and organize agendas minutes and presentation materials.
• Provide hands-on project support in the areas of planning studies report preparation project facilitation and public and stakeholder engagement.
• Collaborate with senior management to identify and strategize business development opportunities and assist with proposal preparation and interviews.
• Serve as environmental lead on planning and multidisciplinary transportation projects.
• Deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget.
• Conduct quality reviews of project deliverables and proposal documents.
• Assist in hiring additional planning staff upon securing sufficient project backlog.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• 810 years of professional experience in environmental planning environmental compliance or a related field preferably with a focus on transportation or infrastructure projects.
• Bachelors degree in planning environmental science biological science natural resources or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated experience with the NEPA process and preparation of environmental compliance documentation.
• Experience with environmental permitting and regulatory coordination including Section 404 Section 7/10 Section 106 and other applicable environmental requirements.
• Knowledge of or experience with Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) NEPA procedures and environmental processes is strongly preferred.
• Experience reviewing engineering plans and multidisciplinary project documents for environmental compliance.
• Demonstrated project leadership and coordination experience.
• Strong technical writing skills with experience preparing environmental studies planning reports permit documentation and other technical deliverables.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical critical-thinking problem-solving organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities work independently and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients agencies stakeholders and project partners.
• Experience with software such as ESRI ArcGIS Adobe Photoshop Illustrator and InDesign is a plus.

• Professional certification or registration applicable to the candidates field of practice is preferred such as AICP CEP ENV SP or LEED accreditation.

Salary range for this position is: $95000/yr - $110000/yr and is dependent on individual education experience and qualifications.
