Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this full-time position will be to supervise and evaluate the work of lower-level environmental health specialists. This position will plan coordinate and supervise the daily activities in the Food Service Facility Compliance Program. This position will also conduct inspections and investigations in the area of community sanitation under the supervision of the Environmental Health Specialist Director.

The selected applicant must be willing and able to travel to all Worcester County Health Department sites.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland Board of Environmental Health Specialists under the licensing requirements for Environmental Health Specialists.

Experience: Two years of experience performing inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with environmental health laws and regulations.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute possession of a Master of Public Health or Master of Science degree from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Environmental Engineering classifications or Environmental Engineering specialty codes in the Engineering and Natural Resources field of work on a year-for-year basis for therequiredexperience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should possess:
  • In depth experience with and/or knowledge of COMAR 10.15.03
  • Experience/Familiarity with temporary food service facility compliance
LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess and maintain a current license as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist from the Maryland Board of Environmental Health Specialists.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.
