Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking Environmental Health and Safety Support B to join our team. The Environmental Health & Safety classifications perform labor tasks related to the disposal reduction storage packaging and transportation of chemical industrial wastes and hazardous materials; maintain inventory and storage of waste and hazardous materials; maintain waste collection and disposal records including schedules of all shipment of waste; assist in inspections to ensure compliance with the organizations policies procedures regulations and standards related to hazardous sites; assist with testing and servicing equipment and systems; may be required to operate equipment after training; may be required to perform EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) tasks including but not limited to setting up firing lines for explosives and operating high temperature ovens for thermal decontamination; and perform other related tasks as assigned.
Essential Functions:
RCRA environmental inspections.
Operate wastewater facility.
Maintain waste collection and disposal records.
Maintain equipment and tooling of the facility.
The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot cold wet humid conditions) across production floors.
Ability to work around variable noise levels or with fumes or airborne particles hazardous chemicals etc. requiring the use of personal protective equipment such as face protection (safety glasses goggles face shield) foot protection (i.e. steel toed shoes rubber boots etc.) gloves hard hat shop coat and hearing protection.
This position may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
Ability to obtain an US security clearance.
Qualifications:
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior wastewater or energetics experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior wastewater or energetics experience.
Required to obtain 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification within 6 months of employment.
Ability to transport 50 pounds.
Preferred Additional Skills:
History of working with energetics.
Experience with wastewater operations.
Experience in operating forklifts or other material handling equipment.
