Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking a creative highly talented Entry-Level Environmental Scientist for immediate employment in the Fort Bragg NC office (onsite at the Directorate of Public Works).
AECOM will include you in our graduate development programs designed to support your assimilation into the organization and assist with creating a foundation of knowledge for a successful career at AECOM. The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Utilizing basic scientific principles theories practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope
- Collecting and entering data and applying technical principles and theories
- Interpreting and recording data conducting analyses comparing findings to relevant studies and local state and federal regulations to ensure compliance
- Performing site visits and field observations
- Working under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
- Conducting field work tolerating variable environmental conditions walking on uneven surfaces and lifting and carrying at least 50 pounds
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in relevant scientific discipline (e.g. environmental science soil science agriculture geology or any scientific related field).
- A valid drivers license is required along with the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.
- Must be able to pass a background check and be eligible to receive a Department of Defense issued Common Access Card.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience conducting field work including inventories of water wastewater and stormwater system assets and compliance assessment.
- Expertise with ESRI suite of GIS software products including ArcMap ArcCatalog and ArcToolbox
- Expertise in performing spatial analysis to calculate linear measurements as well as asset density within defined areas
- Ability to work independently to deliver GIS project deliverables and work collaboratively when necessary
- Experience collecting location data using mapping grade GPS and post processing data
- Ability to update features and associated attributes based on conditions observed during field assessments
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint Google Maps and other common business software and web-based applications
- Ability to independently troubleshoot technical issues
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
