The Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on spacearchitectures policy and strategy developmental planning system of systems engineering and threat reduction to help shape future space missions across the national security space enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers including Air Force Space Command U.S. Strategic Command Air Force Materiel Command and senior leadership at the Pentagon but also provides a broad range of services and support across the national space enterprise maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers but also horizontal matrixed responsibilities across the corporation.

Aerospaceprovidestechnical advice thought leadership and systems engineering support to Space Force. This organization is building and evolving the services activities to ideate and design the Objective Force using modern digital environments and enterprise architecture addition to directly supporting senior Space Force leadership Aerospace alsoprovidesa broad range of services and support across the national space enterprisemaintainingvertical responsibilities with government customers but also horizontal matrixed responsibilities across the corporation.

The selected candidate willbe requiredto work full-time on-site at our facility in Crystal City VA.

What Youll Be Doing

  • Lead or support the integration of mission area analyses and engineering into the Objective Force within a modern digital environment.
  • Develop and implement approaches for integrating mission threads within the enterprise architecture framework.
  • Collaborate effectively in an on-site environment with senior Government leaders Aerospace program offices and the Engineering and Technical Group (ETG) to address complex technical and programmatic challenges.
  • Deliver best-in-class technical analyses and actionable recommendations that drive customer mission success.
  • Develop foster andmaintainstrategic relationships with field and headquarters offices across the United States Space Force (USSF).
  • Address the full spectrum of Space Force systems engineering and integration challenges by building end-to-end processes and models and leading data infrastructure development activities.
  • Delivertimely high-quality responses to time-sensitive staff inquiries and provide technical support for official correspondence to Congress the Office of the Secretary of Defense Department of the Air Force HQ Space Force and the Intelligence Community.

What You Need to be Successful

MinimumRequirements Project Engineer Enterprise Engineering

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering mathematics science or related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
  • 6 years of progressive professional engineering or scientific experience in multi-disciplinary systems engineering and/or program management environments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the U.S. Space Force (USSF) and/or national security space enterprise.
  • Experience with system-of-systems (SoS) engineering enterprise architecting and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools and processes (e.g. Cameo UAF).
  • Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically approximately 20% as customer mission requirements dictate.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities in fast-paced environments.
  • This position requiresan activeTop Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance. U.S. citizenship isrequired.

In addition to the above requirements theminimumrequirements for Sr. Project Engineer EnterpriseEngineering

  • 10 years of progressive professional engineering or scientific experience in multi-disciplinary systems engineering and/or program management environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across Aerospace Corporation functions through ETG and program office coordination and reach-back support.
  • Significant experienceand knowledge of system-of-systems (SoS) engineering enterprise architecting and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) methodologies tools and processes (e.g. Cameo).
  • Exceptional interpersonal oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically approximately 20% as customer mission requirements dictate.
  • Proventrack recordof effectively advising and collaborating with senior government and military leadership.
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach to ambiguous challenges and proven ability to thrive in fast-paced dynamic environments.

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if youhaveone or more of the following:

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in engineering mathematics science or related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Substantive knowledge of the breadth and depth of the U.S. Space Force and national security space enterprise.
  • Deep technicalexpertisein one or more USSF mission areas (e.g. space domain awareness positioning/navigation/timing missile warning/tracking satellite communications space control).
  • Hands-on project experience applying the Unified Architecture Framework (UAF) modeling language for enterprise architectures.
  • Demonstratedtrack recordof innovative problem-solving and entrepreneurial approaches to complex challenges.
  • Proven experience developing and delivering executive-level briefings to senior Government leaders (General Officers and/or Senior Executive Service).
  • Thorough understanding of organizational roles and responsibilities across the Office of the Secretary of Defense Office of the Secretary of the Air Force U.S. Space Force U.S. Space Command space system program offices defense agencies Joint Staff and other government organizations in the national security space enterprise.
