Job Summary

The Physical Education Teacher / Enrichment Center Coordinator is part of our Enrichment Center team and provides K-5 students with opportunities to engage in enrichment activities outside of the traditional academic classroom. This role supports students in developing physical wellness teamwork confidence and a deeper understanding of the world around them.

The PE Teacher / Enrichment Center Coordinator plays a critical role in strengthening school culture. This individual oversees the effectiveness of the Enrichment Center facilitates physical education and enrichment activities and interacts with all students on a weekly basis. Students rotate through the Enrichment Center every day in 45-minute blocks.

Responsibilities
  • Motivate students to participate in learning activities create a positive student culture and maintain high behavioral expectations for all students.
  • Develop a year-long scope and sequence map thematic unit plans and lesson plans to teach physical education and enrichment-based content throughout the school year.
  • Differentiate content by age group and grade level to ensure activities are developmentally appropriate for all students.
  • Collaborate with school staff to develop and maintain a positive culture focused on Rocketships core values of respect responsibility persistence and empathy.
  • Serve as the leader and facilitator for large group physical education and enrichment lessons.
  • Communicate and collaborate with fellow Enrichment Center Coordinators teachers and school leaders.
  • Participate actively in staff development opportunities as a member of the Rocketship team.
  • Ensure that students have access to a positive safe and productive learning environment by enforcing all campus safety rules and behavior expectations.
  • Respond appropriately to occasional exposure to blood bodily fluids or tissue as well as occasional interactions with students who may require additional behavioral support.
  • Inventory organize and maintain Enrichment Center materials equipment and supplies.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Passion for working with children and the ability to motivate and support students in reaching high levels of success.
  • Belief in the value of enrichment education and physical education for all children.
  • Previous experience or training working with youth.
  • Previous experience managing and/or teaching groups of elementary-age students is strongly preferred.
  • Physical education wellness athletics coaching or enrichment content expertise preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and work closely with students families teachers school leaders and staff members.
  • Ability to learn and follow laws rules practices and procedures related to public education and specific to Rocketship Public Schools.
  • Flexibility professionalism and a willingness to learn.

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.
Compensation:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
