Job Summary

TITLE: English (9-12)

REPORTS TO: Principal

SUPERVISES: N/A

TERM: 10 months

JOB GOAL: Work with students to help them learn concepts in English

QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING:

  • Hold appropriate Tennessee certification license
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Effective decision-making and verbal and written communication skills

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with

provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of personnel.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  2. Plans a program of study that as much as possible meets the individual needs interests and abilities of the students.
  3. Creates a classroom environment that is safe intellectually stimulating conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  4. Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation. Establishes clear outcomes for all lessons classwork and projects. The outcomes are communicated to students.
  5. Supports the program of study using a variety of instructional techniques instructional media and technology.
  6. Serves as a model for the districts mission vision and goals.
  7. Assesses the progress of students on a regular basis and adjusts instruction accordingly.
  8. Posts grades in a timely manner and provides progress reports as required.
  9. Recognizes potential learning disabilities of students and seeks the assistance of qualified personnel.
  10. Assist with other duties as assigned by the Principal
