This role supports the Neuromodulation and Pelvic Health (NMPH) Manufacturing Engineering organization with a focus on Joining Technologies and Pilot Process Development. The team develops and scales manufacturing processes used to support next-generation implantable medical devices partnering across engineering design manufacturing and process development functions to advance products from feasibility through manufacturing transfer. The position provides broad technical support across multiple manufacturing technologies equipment platforms and process-development laboratories rather than specializing in a single process area.

This is an onsite position based in Fridley MN. Travel up to 25% is expected including periodic travel to manufacturing partners and transfer locations in support of manufacturing process transfer activities.

As an Engineering Technician V you will serve as a hands-on technical resource supporting manufacturing process development engineering builds equipment and tooling solutions and manufacturing transfer activities. Working closely with engineers and cross-functional partners you will help transform early-stage manufacturing concepts into practical repeatable processes through prototyping troubleshooting experimentation documentation and technical support.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of precision assembly and manufacturing processes for implantable medical device components and assemblies.

  • Partner with engineers to prototype build test troubleshoot and improve manufacturing equipment tooling fixtures and assembly methods.

  • Set up operate modify and troubleshoot manufacturing and laboratory equipment electromechanical systems and prototype tooling.

  • Execute engineering and feasibility builds including material coordination build readiness activities data collection issue resolution and documentation of results.

  • Develop and implement tooling fixtures gauges nests assembly aids and other manufacturing solutions to improve process performance and repeatability.

  • Support engineering experiments through hands-on build execution measurement data collection structured troubleshooting and implementation of corrective actions.

  • Create process documentation operating instructions visual work aids and training materials to support process maturation and knowledge transfer.

  • Collaborate with internal and external manufacturing partners to support pilot builds process transfers troubleshooting and training activities.

Required Qualifications

  • 7 years of hands-on technical experience supporting manufacturing engineering development precision assembly equipment prototyping or related technical environments.

  • Experience troubleshooting and improving manufacturing equipment tooling fixtures precision assemblies and/or electromechanical systems.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings specifications schematics work instructions and technical documentation and utilize common measurement and fabrication tools.

  • Experience collecting documenting and communicating build process or experimental data to support engineering and manufacturing activities.

  • Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with engineers manufacturing teams suppliers and technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical degree Associate degree or apprenticeship with significant relevant experience is preferred.

  • Experience supporting implantable medical devices miniature components precision assemblies or other high-reliability manufacturing environments.

  • Experience with manufacturing process development pilot production new product introduction manufacturing transfer or production ramp activities.

  • Experience with CAD/CAM mechanical design fixture design tooling development or modification of manufacturing equipment and assembly aids.

  • Knowledge of machining fabrication welding 3D printing rapid prototyping automation robotics motion systems sensors or machine vision technologies.

  • Experience applying Design for Assembly (DFA) Design for Manufacturability (DFM) error-proofing (poka-yoke) root cause analysis Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$82400.00 - $123600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience certification/education market conditions and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
