Job Description
Engineering & Safety Internship
Location: Sumas WA Type: PT / School Year Department: Plant Operations
**Must be local to Washington State**

- Exposure to both Process Engineering and Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) functions

- Potential for future internship co-op or full-time opportunities upon graduation
WHEN YOU JOIN US YOU WILL BE:
- Working alongside Process Engineers and HSE professionals to support plant safety and operational improvement initiatives
- Assisting with the development and maintenance of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Safe Work Instructions (SWIs)
- Creating JHAs and SWIs for new and existing equipment
- Supporting the plants 5S continuous improvement program through audits documentation and improvement initiatives
- Identifying opportunities to improve workplace organization efficiency and safety
- Assisting with equipment labeling projects including safety maintenance and process identification systems
- Supporting P&ID reviews and updates to ensure plant documentation remains accurate and current
- Conducting plant walkthroughs to identify safety process and operational improvement opportunities
- Collecting organizing and analyzing data to support engineering and safety projects
- Collaborating with operations maintenance engineering and HSE teams on various special projects
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the facility
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering Industrial Engineering Manufacturing Engineering Process Engineering Environmental Engineering Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Strong written communication skills with an interest in technical documentation
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint)
- Experience reading or working with engineering drawings and P&IDs is an asset
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or 5S principles is an asset
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work both independently and collaboratively

- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- No travel required
