Why its a great opportunity:In this role within the Sewer and Water Utilities Division your engineering expertise will support the Chambers Creek Regional Treatment Plant the Cascadia Treatment Plant and the Collection/Conveyance system operating from the Sewer & Traffic OPs (STOP) facility. You will be leading teams for programs such as the Sewer Improvement Program Sewer Development Engineering Review Sewer Development Construction Inspection outside agency interlocal agreements sewer system standards management and more. You and your teams focus will be on project planning/modeling development review and inspection system preservation assessment and sewer code enforcement ensuring reliable service across Pierce County.

Core daily responsibilities:
- Coordinate Department activities with other governmental agencies. Ensure County compliance with state and federal regulations including technical and policy coordination with outside agencies.
- Plan capital improvement programs for the department; integrate programming and operations with other departments; coordinate and monitor programs in accordance with overall county goals and objectives.
- Plan research and develop long range plans including the future planning for the expansion of existing programs projects capital facilities and assets.
- Participate in the preparation of the departmental budget and is responsible for the allocation of funds within the appropriate budget areas. Make decisions on budget matters and cost control and monitoring.

Minimum Qualifications
- Eight years of progressively responsible work experience /or postsecondary education in the field of civil engineering OR
- Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or closely related field AND
- Five or more years of supervisory or management experience is required.
- This position requires certification as a Professional Engineer by the State of Washington or the ability to obtain such registration within six months of employment.

- A valid drivers license is required.
