Engineering Manager, Maps Search Intelligence

Apple Maps is used by millions and powers thousands of applications every single day. Our mission is simple: build the best maps in the world. We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Search Intelligence team to help continue building best-in-class algorithms and solutions which help drive Apple Intelligence for looking for an Engineering Manager who can lead a team of exceptional engineers drive the technical direction of Maps Search Intelligence and deliver meaningful contributions to Apple Intelligence. This role sits at the intersection of large-scale machine learning generative AI and real-world product impact at a scale few organizations ever reach.

As Engineering Manager of Maps Search Intelligence you will lead a team building the core search algorithms large-scale ML models and generative AI systems that power how users discover places and interact with Apple Intelligence. You will own the teams technical roadmap drive execution across the full ML lifecycle from research and evaluation through production deployment and partner closely with product design and platform teams across Apple to shape the future of Maps is a deeply cross-functional role. You will influence product strategy directly translating engineering capabilities into roadmap decisions that reach hundreds of millions of users.

Lead the design development and production deployment of Maps Search features including large-scale ML models deep learning NLP and generative AI solutions that power Apple the long-term technical vision and roadmap for the Search Intelligence team balancing near-term delivery with strategic investment in emerging with product management design and platform teams across Apple to align on goals shape feature direction and drive shared roadmaps from inception to product strategy by translating research findings and engineering capabilities into concrete opportunities that improve the Maps experience for closely with the Siri team and other cross-organizational partners to integrate Maps Search capabilities into Apple Intelligence features aligning on shared technical direction and delivery and manage a quality program for new Search features defining evaluation frameworks success metrics and review processes that ensure every launch meets Apples standard for user develop and mentor engineers at all levels fostering a team culture built on technical excellence ownership and continuous leadership-level presentations to communicate technical strategy roadmap progress and cross-team dependencies to product leadership and executives across Apple.

MS in Computer Science or a related field with 8 years of software engineering experience including 3 years managing engineering track record leading high-performing teams in search personalization information retrieval recommendation systems or a related ML expertise in generative AI and LLMs with hands-on experience building and deploying these systems in production at scale. nDemonstrated ability to work cross-functionally aligning engineering teams with product management design and research partners to define and deliver features at record of influencing product direction translating engineering capabilities and data-driven insights into roadmap decisions and strategic communication and presentation skills with a proven ability to deliver leadership-level presentations and influence strategic decisions at the executive level.n

PhD in Computer Science Machine Learning or a related evaluating and deploying search features incorporating large-scale GenAI deep learning and natural language processing understanding of search indexing query understanding and ranking delivering consumer-facing features or products used at global establishing cross-team technical standards shared evaluation frameworks or platform capabilities adopted by partner teams.
