Job Summary
Position Overview:
USA Rare Earth is seeking a motivated and curious Engineering Intern to support engineering and manufacturing initiatives related to next-generation rare earth magnet production. This role offers hands-on exposure to real-world engineering challenges in a fast-paced startup environment focused on rebuilding the U.S. domestic supply chain for critical minerals and magnet technologies.
The Engineering Intern will work alongside engineers and technical teams across multiple disciplines gaining practical experience in process development manufacturing optimization equipment design and materials analysis. This internship is ideal for a student eager to apply classroom knowledge to real engineering problems while contributing to innovative clean energy and advanced manufacturing solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support engineering projects related to magnet manufacturing materials processing and production scale-up.
- Assist in testing evaluating and improving rare earth magnet production processes.
- Collect organize and analyze engineering data to support technical decision-making.
- Contribute to troubleshooting technical issues in pilot and production environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering R&D operations and quality.
- Assist with equipment design process documentation and technical reporting.
- Maintain organized documentation of experiments testing results and project progress.
- Follow all company safety environmental and quality procedures while working in laboratory or manufacturing environments.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing aBachelors degree in Engineering(Mechanical Materials Science Chemical Industrial or related discipline).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a desire to learn in a hands-on environment.
- Interest in advanced manufacturing materials science clean energy technologies or critical mineral supply chains.
- Familiarity with engineering tools such as CAD software data analysis tools or laboratory instrumentation is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and evolving startup environment.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to safety continuous improvement and technical excellence.
