Desirable Qualifications
Experience and skill incorporating elements of diversity equity and inclusion into all areas of responsibility; Recent experience working with African American Asian/Pacific Islander Latinx Native American and other racially minoritized students in the classroom and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion of these groups in higher education shape patterns of participation and outcomes; Experience working with students of various cultural gender age socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds including students with disabilities; Willingness to examine and remediate ones instructional relational and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students; Related work and professional experience; Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students and staff both orally and in writing; Commitment to interacting and working successfully as a team with instructors and other colleagues; Demonstrated ability to work with computers and other technologies which are utilized in providing high-quality instruction and support to students; Teaching experience in the breadth of courses taught and the use of a variety of pedagogies at the secondary or post-secondary level; Knowledge of the current curriculum and assessment standards in engineering education; Ability to develop curriculum in emerging areas; Demonstrated ability to use current educational technology methods and tools; Demonstrated ability to design adapt and implement innovative teaching methodologies and instructional techniques to accommodate varied learning styles and teaching modalities including distance learning; Demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and assisting students to succeed; Ability to contribute to the entire the instructional program including Department Division and College responsibilities; Knowledge and experience in the development and assessment of student learning outcomes; and Knowledge of the community college and its mission and goals.
Minimum Qualifications
All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability gender identity sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom; and Masters in any field of engineering; or Bachelors in any of the above; and Masters in mathematics physics computer science chemistry or geology; or A valid California Community College Credential; or The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency). Notes: A bachelors in any field of engineering with a professional engineers license is an alternative qualification for this discipline.
