Job Summary
H2M architects engineers a multidiscipline architectural engineering environmental consulting firm seeks a Safety Manager for our Melville NY office. This position will support ongoing electric utility direct and implement project specific safety programs as needed for electric transmission and distribution construction activity to promote a safe healthy and incident and injury free (IIF) work environment. Foster a culture and a commitment to the IIF concept of personal & behavioral based safety for all engaged Responsibilities: Interpret health and safety regulations. Conduct safety meetings as needed and warranted by program requirements. Interacts with contractors to ensure a consistent understanding and enforcement of regulatory requirements. Ensure that specific objectives and strategies are maintained to have an effective safety program that complies with federal state and local safety regulations. Assures adherence to established safety standards and that accident prevention techniques are being fully implemented. Conduct comprehensive on-site safety assessments of projects as part of constant monitoring process and monitor corrective actions taken. Builds a culture of voluntary proactive safety among workers. Effectively performs periodic inspections of site equipment and work practices; identifies safety hazards and deficiencies and recommends mitigations tactics. Plan and implement programs to train employees in work site safety practices. Review accident and incident documentation to ensure required records and reports are complete and accurate;ensurecorrective action is implemented. Participate in accident investigations; produce investigative reports. Maintain safety files and records; prepare reports for management as needed. Maintains knowledge and keeps abreast of safety laws and regulations. Ensure company and contract health and safety policies and procedures are understood and implemented consistently. Communicate and reinforce the Company vision values and goals regarding health and may require occasional overtime including evening night and weekend to travel to project sites and work outdoors in varying weather and field conditions as needed. Education and Qualifications: Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) certification preferred; ability to obtain certification safety/health degree or equivalent combination of training and related experience. Thorough understanding of and ability to enforce all federal state local and Company regulations. Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures. Experience with overhead and underground electrical system installation Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. Ability to train and educate others. Good computer skills (MS Office software Outlook). Must be willing to travel to specific job compensation range for this role is $96500 - $132400 employment offer may deviate from this publishedrangebased on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience specialty knowledge education geography and/or related certifications not related to any applicants characteristicsprotected by local state or federal : The salary or hourly rate indicated does not include other forms of compensationor benefits.
