POSITION OVERVIEW

The Lab Technician positionis responsible forthe sample collection and testing and data recording activities for finished goods and raw materials to ensure customer requirements are role works closely with Process Leads and Process Operators to communicate issues and aids in resolving issues.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure products meet quality specifications priorreceivingand/or shipment.

  • In process quality check and balance to ensure product meets key point specifications.

  • Properlymaintainlab equipment.

  • Work overtime to cover vacancies/vacations and meet Customer requirements including weekends.

  • Personal safety of self andotherwhile conducting work tasks.

  • Cross train to other processes and positions for business continuity and flexibility.

  • Notify supervisors and other personnel of productionproblems andassistinidentifyingand correcting these problems.

  • Record inspection or test data such as weights temperatures grades or moisture content and quantities inspected or graded.

  • Analyze test data and makecomputations asnecessary todeterminetest results.

  • Collect samples from tanks per production schedule for testing.

  • Read dials and meters to verify that equipment is functioning at specified levels.

  • Cleanmaintain repair and calibrate measuring instruments and test equipment.

  • Compute defect percentages or averages using formulas and calculators and prepare reports of inspection or test findings.

  • Attend all plant meetings and complete alltrainingson time.

  • Maintain5Sstandards.

  • Ability to occasionally push pull and carry up to50 pounds.

  • SAFETY Adhere to all plant safety policies and compliance the safety process throughcompleting ofsafety auditsparticipatingin safety projectsidentifyingSiteHazardsand contributing to safety improvements and being an attending member of a safety annual safety training asrequired.

  • QUALITY Become familiar withunderstandandcomply withMilliken Quality Policy Standard Operating Procedure(s) (SOPs) relevant ISO 9000standardsand Company Policies thatare applicableto this position.

  • RESPONSIBLE CARE:

a. Be aware of the relevant requirements of the Responsible Care Management System (RC-14001) and follow plant procedures to ensure compliancetorequirements.

b. Understand the RC-14001 Significant Aspects of your job and help ensure controls are in place to reduce oreliminatenegative impacts.

c. Take actions andidentifyand communicate ideas to minimize waste preventpollutionand conserve energy.

  • HAZARDOUS WASTE HANDLING - All associates who handle hazardous waste shall be given an overview of the regulations and company policiesregardingthe management of hazardous hazardous waste handlers shall receive detailed instruction on the proper handling collecting labeling and transporting of hazardous waste as outlined in RCRA and OSHA shall also include whom to notify in case of a spill and proper procedures for spill requirements include the ability to understand and carry out oral and written on handling hazardous waste shall come from the hazardous waste manager orappropriate designee.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SAFETY & SECURITY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand the relevant requirements of the Responsible Care Management System (RCMS) and RC-14001 certification.

  • Understand the importance of conformancetotheEnvironmental Safety and Responsible Care Policies procedures and the requirements of theRCMS.

  • Understand thesignificantenvironmental impacts associated with their work activitiesand help ensurecontrols are in place to reduce oreliminatenegative impacts.

  • Understand the potential consequences of deviation from specified operating procedures.

  • Immediately report any accidents and releases per thecompanyescalation protocol.

  • Comply withall environmentalhealthsafetyand securityrules;Environmental Safety and Responsible Care policiesand programsestablishedby the company to the extent of training received.

  • Recognize that adhering to job responsibilities and proceduresregardingenvironmental safetysecurityand health is a condition of employment.

  • Contributeto continuous improvement of the plant environmental health safety security and Responsible Care performance and programs.

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)with coursework completed in general chemistry.

  • Accountability - Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.

  • Customer Orientated Ability to meet or exceed customers needs while followingcompany.

  • Detail Oriented - Ability to pay attention to all details of a project or task and the ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.

The successful candidate will have strengths in the following:

  • Experience in a laboratory environmentpreferred.

  • Experience with Microsoft software applicationshelpful. Keyboardingproficiencyand general computer knowledge/experience preferred.
