EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE COUNSELOR, HR Faculty Staff Assistance

Job Summary
Provides employee assistance services to promote the resilience and well-being of Boston University faculty staff and their household family members. Services include direct clinical care consultation and training to the organization development of program promotion activities and establishment of community linkages and a provider referral network. This part-time (20 hours per week) position supports employees on Boston Universitys Charles River and Medical Campuses with the option for some remote work. The position reports to the Director of the Faculty & Staff Assistance Office.
Clinical Counseling and Case Management
Provides confidential clinical services to individuals couples and groups including assessment short-term counseling crisis intervention case monitoring and referrals for personal and work-related concerns.
Provides critical incident and grief support for individuals and groups.
Consults to managers/supervisors Human Resources Occupational Health Equal Opportunity Diversity & Inclusion and other department administrators regarding risk assessment critical incidents workplace conflict and employees with work performance personal or other workplace issues.
Provides consultation and coordination with Human Resources and Occupational Health in assessing fitness for duty and supporting successful reintegration of employees returning from leave.
Maintains timely case documentation and program statistics; strictly adheres to confidentiality and ethical guidelines.
Training Education and Wellness Promotion
Creates and delivers responsive training and educational workshops on effective utilization of EAP services behavioral health emotional well-being work-life and other EAP-related topics.
Participates in program awareness activities; cultivates employee well-being through innovative programing workshops social media and promotion of wellness activities.
Program Development and Community Engagement
Fosters and maintains effective and constructive communication within a team environment.
Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Identifies evaluates and develops referral relationships with local behavioral health and substance use treatment providers; identifies community resources to address employee needs.
Initiates and implements clinical and programmatic improvements to EAP services; contributes to creating and revising policies and procedures.
Serves on advisory boards and committees within the organization and in professional EAP organizations.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Masters Degree and currently licensed as a mental health professional in good standing.
Minimum of 2 years post-Masters experience.
Knowledge and experience working with diverse racial cultural socio-economic educational age-specific and gender populations.
Advanced knowledge of and ability to intervene with a broad range of issues including substance use psychiatric illness suicide/homicide risk assessment interpersonal violence critical incidents organizational difficulties and workplace conflict.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with public speaking and presentation of trainings.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Electronic Data Base Management applications.
Ability to provide some services before 9 am and after 5 pm.
Employee assistance experience preferred.
