Emory Healthcare APP Fellowship, Movement Disorders Spring 2027

Job Summary: The NP Fellow over the course of the training must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients with movement /disorders. The Fellow must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to develop each patients care requirements.

Primary duties and responsibilities: 1. Describe the pathophysiology of selected movement disorders 2. Apply evidence-based medicine in the diagnosis and ongoing provision of quality cost-effective care for persons with selected movement disorders. 3. Performs physical examinations and specialized diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures. 4. Diagnose medical problems develop care plans and prescribe treatment. 5. Order and schedule and/or perform laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures as needed. 6. Collect and interpret diagnostic data to implement appropriate patient care plans. 7. Prescribe drugs to treat specific illnesses and reviews medications and treatment modalities for clinical need simplification and possible adverse reactions to adjust as indicated and applicable. 8. Administer injections for specific conditions including sialorrhea and 9. Detect and evaluate for any significant change in patients condition treating as indicated with current evidence-based practice. 10. Arrange for consultations with or referrals to other medical professionals or community services as needed. 11. Select administer and interpret established rating scales to assess and monitor the clinical status of persons with selected movement disorders. 12. Design and present an educational offering for persons families communities or professionals focused on a specific aspect of a selected movement disorder that is cognizant of the social emotional physical and cultural needs of participants 13. Demonstrate organizational skills in the management of a panel of persons with selected movement disorder 14. Display effective communication and presentation skills as a member of the interprofessional team 15. Be able to define how and when the administration of botulinum toxin injections are needed as well as explain the side effects when to refer and how to manage problems for persons with selected movement disorders 16. Differentiate the roles and responsibilities of clinical trial research team members 17. Formulate implement and evaluate a plan for continuity of care for a person with a selected movement disorder that includes liaison and coordination with community agencies and healthcare professionals 18. DBS programming intra-operative micro recording observation and Duopa management 19. Educate patients on health habits self-examinations behavior management need for follow-up assessments/treatments at home medical care medication and other issues related to medical or health problems. 20. Provide independent outpatient care in clinic in partnership with our physicians and other providers. 21. Document the delivery of care in the individuals medical records.

Core Professional Duties of the Fellowship: 1. Works with manager to formulate plan for professional development 2. Attends educational in-services as appropriate. 3. Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends practices and developments. 4. Actively participates on organizational health services committees and performs related responsibilities as required 5. Requirement: Be on back-up call once a month to allow for full-scope practice as part of the training experience. 6. Outreach and Education: Engage in community service and outreach including support groups education seminars for the public and service to the underserved local community.

Minimum Required Qualifications: Education - Graduate degree from an accredited school of nursing as a Primary Care Adult-Gerontology or Family Nurse Practitioner -Minimum GPA of 3.0 on 4.0 scale Experience - Minimum of three years clinical experience as a registered nurse Licensure - National board certification in Nurse Practitioner specialty - Licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the state of Georgia by the Georgia Board of Nursing and certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or equivalent body. Licenses at least four months prior to the start of the program year (September 1) Certification - BLS and Healthcare Provider certifications required. ACLS may be required in some areas. Preferred Qualifications: Experience - Minimum of one year experience as a nurse practitioner preferred
