Emergency and Critical Care Supervisor

The Emergency and Critical Care Service (ECCS) provides medical care for small animals and exotics presenting for emergency evaluation hospitalization and intensive monitoring. As an ECC Supervisor at the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) you will oversee the veterinary technical team (registered veterinary technicians veterinary assistants and hourly staff) across the Emergency/Urgent Care (ER) Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) Critical Care Unit (CCU) and Isolation services while partnering closely with faculty and clinicians.

• Collaborate with the HR department to develop and implement proactive recruitment onboarding training and retention strategies to attract hire and retain veterinary support staff.
• Oversee veterinary technician internships and externships with local and non-local veterinary technology programs to ensure a high-quality learning environment and build future talent pipelines.
• Provide day-to-day operational leadership as a floor supervisor including workflow management shift coordination and staffing coverage for the veterinary support team.
• Partner with Faculty Service Leaders and collaborate effectively with students interns residents clinicians and clients to support clinical operations and educational objectives.
• Ensure consistent high-quality patient care including oversight of triage assessment stabilization treatment monitoring restraint and urgent decision-making when hospital leadership is unavailable.
• Manage client service needs including responding to client questions and financial inquiries while ensuring accurate and timely charge capture within the unit.
• Perform supervisory and administrative functions including conducting performance reviews managing disciplinary actions approving leave requests reconciling timecards monitoring leave banks and contributing to financial reporting budgeting and staffing utilization decisions.

• Bachelors degree from an accredited institution. SUBSTITUTIONS:Associates Degree plus 4 years of veterinary experience OR HS diploma/GED plus 6 years of veterinary experience.
• 4 years of veterinary experience.

• Outstanding communication skills and the ability to engageemployees at all levels of the organization.
• Prior leadership experience and/or shift lead experience.
• Registered Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant.
• Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) in Emergency and Critical Care.
• Successful candidates should have flexibility with their schedule tomeet the needs of 24/7 operations (days evenings weekends).
• Experience in veterinary technician recruitment leadership andretention through creating a cohesive hospital environment andproviding a structure where employees can advance.
• Experience in an academic/higher education environment and/orveterinary specialty/emergency environment.
• Understanding the educational and clinical goals of a veterinaryteaching hospital.
• Outstanding client communication and experience with conflictresolution.
