POSITION: ELEMENTARY TEACHER (Kindergarten)
REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL GRADES K-4

Kindergarten through fourth grade classrooms are team-taught by two educators who share responsibility for planning teaching and monitoring the success of all learners in their class. The two teachers work together and share their expertise to build a dynamic learning environment. Some grade levels are split into two classrooms staffed by a lead and associate teacher in each classroom creating a team of four. The available position is for a lead Kindergarten teacher who would co-teach with an associate and co-plan with a Kindergarten team of four.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and conduct an effective developmentally appropriate educational program to meet the social emotional cognitive and physical needs of each childin the classroom outdoors and in both small and large group activities
- Mentor and collaborate effectively with the Associate Teacher
- Communicate thoughtfully and professionally with parents and colleagues regarding curriculum students and developmental issues both verbally and in writing
- Create a pleasant inviting classroom atmosphere in which children feel comfortable and secure fostering a supportive and safe environment that encourages children to experience new skills
- Provide experiences that promote individual self-expression in conversation imaginative play and creativity
- Integrate student and teacher use of technology meaningfully into instruction and utilize technology effectively for planning and administrative functions
- Maintain accurate observations and records of students
- Provide positive guidance to help children develop social-emotional and self-regulation skills
- Confer with the principal student support team and teaching partner to resolve student issues
- Demonstrate professionalism through reliability participation in school obligations and a respectful attitude in professional relationships
- Demonstrate integrity patience openness sensitivity enthusiasm and friendliness
- Uphold and enforce school rules administrative regulations and the board policies
- Stay current on best teaching practices and engage in professional development
- Participate in Open Houses and Retreats as needed and perform supervision duties as assigned
- Attend day and overnight field trips as needed
- Perform any other duties needed to help drive our Vision fulfill our Mission and abide by our Organizations Values
SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION
- B.A. or B.S. in education or a related field
- Teaching Credential and/or Masters in Education preferred
- Minimum of three years teaching experience
- Classroom teaching experience preferably in elementary school
- Excellent classroom management skills necessary to ensure a safe productive and positive environment
- Excellent interpersonal organizational and time management skills
- Committed to contributing to a collaborative team environment
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Experience developing writing and delivering curriculum
- Ability to work effectively communicate and collaborate in a team setting
- Proficient in technology and adept at learning new skills
EXPECTED HOURS
- 7:50 am - 3:30 pm
- Faculty Meetings are on Mondays from 3:30 to 5:00 pm
- Occasional evening events
COMPENSATION
$71000 to $115000 commensurate with experience
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is an exempt position. Competitive compensation commensurate with experience.
