Job Summary
Summary of Duties
Plan develop and deliver instructional services aligned with students Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and behavior management plans to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills.
Reports to
Special Education Director and Building Principal
Qualifications/Requirements
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement
Current Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification preferred
Experience working with and guiding Instructional Assistants with implementation of behavior intervention plans scheduling and daily management
Maintain accurate and complete student records complete progress monitoring and prepare student focused IEPs as required by laws district policies and administrative regulations
Collaborate with parents teachers itinerant service providers and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and behavior management plans designed to promote students educational physical and social/emotional development
Experience coordinating and running effective team meetings BIP meetings and REED meetings
Strong collaboration and communication skills in working with general education teachers related service staff administrators students and parents
Experience with multi-tiered systems of support for academics and behavior including targeted interventions progress monitoring and data-based instructional decision making
Ability to create behavior academic and social programs to meet the needs of individual students
Collect and analyzes data to make instructional and behavioral decisions.
Experience providing instruction in multiple settings including co-teaching push-in and traditional modalities while maintaining a least restrictive environment
Experience with accommodations and modifications to the general education curriculum
Compensation
Compensation will be paid in accordance with the DEA Master Agreement. Up to three (3) years of verified public school teaching experience shall be credited for placement on the salary schedule.
