Job Goal:
To promote student success provide preventative services and respond toidentifiedstudent needsby implementing a comprehensive school-based counseling program that addressesthe academicsuccess and positive personal/social development of students.
Provide comprehensive data-driven developmentalsupportwithin the academic personal/social and career domains that deliver services equitably to all students.Counselors provide direct student servicesthrough the use ofevidence-based curriculums individual student planning and responsive services. They also provide indirect student services on behalf of thestudentsuch as referrals foradditionalassistance consultation and collaboration with parents/guardians teachers and other professionals and community organizations.

Core Job Functions:
- Maintain and create a safeequitable and inclusive space for all students.
- Identifytheappropriate processforimplementingindividual and group counseling services andfacilitatesessions to meet the developmental needs of students.
- Provide and support prevention programs including but not limited to student wellness lessons conflict resolution anti-bullying strategies peer mediation and character education.
- Support andfacilitatea positive school climate and culture for students staff parents/guardians and other school community members.
- Utilize site data to make informed decisionsregardinga comprehensive school counseling program and to determine appropriatesupportsfor the school community.
- Demonstrate and apply knowledge of school counseling protocols by applyingappropriate practiceand following policyregardingthe safety of students.
- Follow district processesregardingmandatory reporting thoughts of suicide and self-harm.
- Design and deliver classroom lessons tofacilitatethe integration of school counseling as a vitalcomponentof educating the whole child.
- Assiststudents to develop the skills needed to achieve academic success college and career readiness and social/emotional development.
- Assistadministrator with investigating conduct referrals incidentreportsand disruptive behavior by supporting the students emotional needs during these identified incidents.
- Consult and collaborate effectively with school staff and parents/guardiansregardingstudentconcerns and needs.
- Serve as a liaison between the school and home for children withspecialcircumstancesand/or needs for continuity of care.
- Maintainthe confidentiality of student records and student information.
- Implement an effective follow-up process as needed andmaintainon-goingcommunication withappropriatecollaboratorsto support the well-being of students.
- Collaborate with staff in assessing and monitoring student progress toward meeting academic and social-emotional goals.
- Develop and coordinate 504 plans foridentifiedstudents.
- Participate and apply training from professional development and continuing educationopportunitiesto remainupdatedonbestpractices.
- Use available technology resources to enhancetheschool counseling program.
- Attend extracurricular school events to build relationships with studentscaregivers andthecommunity at large.
- Adhereto state laws district policies and procedures and school counseling ethical standards.
- Coordinate and/orparticipatein school-wide initiatives activities and programming related to the development of student well-being.
- Perform all other duties or serve on district and/or site-based committees as assigned by administrator.

Physical Requirements:
