The purpose of this job is to monitor and supervise students assigned to in-school suspension providing behavioral and academic support as needed to promote students well-rounded continuous growth.
Essential Duties
Create a safe and structured environment for students assigned to In-School Suspension free of significant barriers to focus and emotional regulation.
Supervise and actively assist students in improving their classroom behavior and academic achievement.
Communicate model and enforce high expectations for the academic and behavioral performance of students assigned to In-School Suspension.
Foster positive relationships with students including those assigned to In-School Suspension.
Assist students in completing assignments and meeting academic requirements including facilitating small-group tutoring as needed.
Create and maintain accurate records for each student assigned to In-School Suspension including recording daily attendance.
Provide behavioral and emotional support and encouragement to help students succeed in their learning environment.
Work one-on-one with students on assigned coursework and communicate with teachers regarding students participation and completion of assigned work.
Provide educators with observations and feedback on students progress and behavior offering insights into strategies that may support greater success in the traditional classroom setting.
Provide and model trauma-informed practices and responses when interacting with students demonstrating emotional or behavioral dysregulation.
Manage document and report student behaviors that are deemed inappropriate or unsafe.
Collaborate with instructional staff to model and implement effective behavioral and instructional interventions which may include working in classrooms when no students are assigned to In-School Suspension.
Collaborate with teachers counselors and support staff as a visible approachable presence throughout the campus not just within the In-School Suspension setting.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Must be physically able to participate and gain certification in de-escalation procedures and non-violent physical interventions.
Must possess and maintain a valid state drivers license with an acceptable driving history.
