What You Will Do:

We are looking for an Electron Microscope Scientist to support the Vaccine Research Center (VRC) at NIAID by overseeing cryo-electron microscopy operations and supporting structural biology research. This is a full-time position located in Bethesda MD.

• Provide scientific technical and operational oversight of the cryo-EM facility.
• Support structural biology research through high-quality cryo-EM data acquisition and analysis.
• Manage facility operations including instrument performance user access and workflow optimization.
• Oversee operation maintenance and troubleshooting of cryo-EM instrumentation.
• Perform cryo-EM sample preparation data collection and computational analysis.
• Train and support users including students postdocs and senior scientists.
• Collaborate with NIH investigators and provide guidance on experimental design.
• Develop and implement standardized workflows SOPs and best practices.
• Monitor project timelines instrument usage and overall facility performance.

What You Will Need:

• Ph.D. in Biology or a closely related field.
• A minimum of THREE (3) years of experience in cryo-electron microscopy structural biology or related research.
• Demonstrated expertise in cryo-EM workflows instrumentation and facility operations.
• Experience with cryo-EM data collection processing and analysis.
• Ability to maintain calibrate and troubleshoot advanced microscopy instrumentation.
• Strong organizational project management and multitasking skills.
• Ability to support and train a diverse scientific user base.
• Strong collaboration communication and leadership skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and scientific data tools.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD public trust; candidates must receive approved adjudication prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred.
