Job Summary
An Electrician installs maintains troubleshoots and repairs electrical systems in commercial and industrial environments. This role requires 4 years of hands-on field experience a strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and the ability to work independently or as part of a crew to complete work safely on schedule and to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install repair and maintain electrical wiring conduit panels breakers switches outlets lighting and control systems per plans specifications and code.
- Interpret blueprints schematics one-line diagrams and work orders; verify materials and identify conflicts in the field.
- Perform troubleshooting using appropriate test equipment (e.g. multimeter megger clamp meter) to diagnose and correct electrical issues.
- Plan and execute rough-in and trim-out work; pull wire terminate devices and label circuits to standards.
- Ensure all work complies with NEC local codes and company quality requirements; complete work to pass inspections.
- Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) PPE and jobsite safety rules; maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Coordinate with foremen general contractors and other trades to maintain schedule and resolve jobsite issues.
- Mentor apprentices as assigned; provide direction on safe work practices and craftsmanship.
- Document daily progress material usage and changes; communicate delays hazards and scope questions promptly.
- 4 years of electrical field experience (commercial/industrial/residential) performing installation and service work.
- Journeyman Electrician license/certification (as required by jurisdiction) or the ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes.
- Ability to read and work from prints schematics and specifications.
- Proficiency with hand tools power tools and electrical test equipment.
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation (if job travel is required).
- Ability to work safely at heights in confined spaces and in varying weather/temperature conditions (as applicable).
- Strong communication skills and a dependable safety-first work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications:
- OSHA 10/30 lift/scissor certification and/or first aid/CPR.
- Experience with service work generators motor controls VFDs and/or low-voltage systems (fire alarm access control data).
- Experience bending conduit (EMT/IMC/RMC) including offsets saddles and complex runs.
- Prior leadership experience as lead journeyman or acting foreman.
Physical & Work Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (with or without reasonable accommodation).
- Ability to climb ladders/scaffolding kneel bend and work overhead for extended periods.
- Ability to distinguish wire colors and read small print on plans/labels.
- Willingness to work overtime nights or weekends as needed to meet project schedules.
