Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of Facilities Management installs maintains and repairs electrical wiring systems fixtures controls and equipment to maintain and improve Capital University facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Installs inspects and tests electrical lighting signal communication and power circuits and equipment both residential and commercial applications.
- Isolates and repairs in wiring switches motors motor controls boiler / chiller systems and other electrical equipment.
- Replaces faulty switches sockets plugs fuses insulators lighting and other simple elements of electrical systems fixtures and appliances.
- Renews circuits either by isolating and cutting out defective wiring and replacing it with new wiring or by splicing ends of broken wires.
- Responsible for estimating and running additional electrical circuits from panels to point of use.
- Replaces defective equipment while following LOTO policy to restore equipment and systems.
- As required estimate materials needed and record time and materials expended on each work order.
- Must be able to respond to emergencies as applicable and or willing to work overtime as needed on emergent repairs.
- Assist with managing and or assisting external contractors on larger electrical projects.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience in electrical maintenance repair and installation and associated hand and power tools and equipment. Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial / residential and service. Must have working knowledge and understanding of current NEC.
- Motor Vehicle operators license and dependable transportation required.
- Ability to read blueprints and follow technical instructions.
- Ability to perform tasks in low high and tight spaces such as closets windows crawl spaces under floors and above ceilings stairwells equipment rooms building exteriors and roofs.
- Ability to handle exposure: to dirt dust and grease electricity climatic weather various chemicals such as drain cleaners mastics glues paint loud equipment noises with multiple moving parts.
- Physical Requirements: ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
