Job Description Summary
The engineer in this role will serve as a Lead Electrical Monitoring Engineer on the
Electrical Controls and Operability (EC&O) Monitoring Team. The engineer in this
role will execute proactive electrical monitoring and diagnostic assessments across the fleet with focus on detecting emerging risks early and converting data into clear actionable recommendations.

The engineer in this role will support the team mission to detect diagnose and
communicate abnormal electrical controls and system-level behavior before issues become outages repeat events or sustained performance losses.

Job Description

Role Scope

The engineer in this role will develop and execute electrical monitoring methods and diagnostic assessments for high-impact electrical issues including fire prevention converter faults generator performance anomalies transformer and protection events nuisance electrical trips and instability patterns. The engineer in this role will work closely with more senior members on the team and cross-functional partners in Services Electrical Engineering Controls Engineering Systems Engineering Fleet Reliability Root Cause Analysis and Fleet Performance teams.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute proactive monitoring of electrical system health using SCADA alarms events operational history and field data.
  • Develop and improve electrical condition indicators thresholds and detection logic for identified failure and degradation modes.
  • Perform deep diagnostic assessments for recurring electrical issues intermittent faults nuisance trips and instability patterns.
  • Distinguish actionable electrical risk from expected operational variation and non-critical anomalies.
  • Translate diagnostic findings into practical recommendations including troubleshooting direction and maintenance priorities.
  • Partner with more senior members on the team to align diagnostic priorities escalation decisions and action recommendations.
  • Support standardization of electrical monitoring documentation issue classification and technical communication quality.
  • Build technical depth in electrical monitoring by applying feedback sharing lessons learned and supporting continuous improvement of team methods.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 4 years of relevant engineering experience in wind power generation industrial controls or rotating equipment diagnostics.
  • Strong understanding of turbine electrical systems including converters generators transformers protection concepts and balance-of-plant interfaces.
  • Demonstrated experience diagnosing electrical performance issues from operational data and event history.
  • Strong data literacy with hands-on use of SCADA trends event logs and alarm data in technical decision-making.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical findings clearly to engineering and operations stakeholders.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience supporting fleet-level reliability programs and corrective action campaigns.
  • Experience with scripting or analytics tools such as Python SQL or equivalent for data-driven diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis workflows and reliability-centered maintenance concepts.
  • Experience building or improving alert logic dashboards and fleet triage workflows.
  • Experience with SCADA visualization and data-driven decision-making in operational settings.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position the pay range for this position is between $98400.00 and $164000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110% 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidates experience education and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
