Electrical Designer

Role OverviewThe Design Engineer plays a critical role in transitioning projects from virtual design concepts to fully engineered constructable solutions. This position leads preconstruction design and BIM coordination efforts while ensuring accuracy constructability and code Design Engineers at Gaylor Electric are adaptable motivated and eager to grow. They bring strong Revit and coordination expertise a deep understanding of electrical construction and a continuous-improvement mindset. This role requires close collaboration with operations internal partners and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality designs that support successful project ResponsibilitiesDesign & EngineeringLead multiple projects through preconstruction design and coordination and review design coordination and installation drawings in alignment with Gaylor Electric Best and evaluate electrical calculations including (but not limited to) load voltage drop short circuit and lighting constructable code-compliant design and coordination documents across electrical systems including (but not limited to) power lighting systems underground site and temporary & CoordinationRepresent Gaylor Electric in BIM and coordination meetings with architects engineers and MEP trade and resolve spatial constructability and installation challenges through 3D BIM Execution Plans scopes of work specifications and jurisdictional requirements for accuracy and & Stakeholder SupportProvide design and BIM support to operations and field teams throughout the project with project managers craft professionals estimators and purchasing to align design intent with execution with clients consultants owners and equipment vendors to resolve technical and design-related and contribute to project meetings as & Continuous ImprovementMentor and train Virtual Design team the development and implementation of new Best Practices and innovative quality and productivity of all deliverables within the required time and expand technical expertise through ongoing learning and professional Qualifications2 years of experience in a VDC-related proficiency in Revit (2 years) and experience participating in 3D ability to read and interpret electrical drawings one-line diagrams and panel understanding of electrical installation practices and with Autodesk tools including Revit Navisworks BIM 360 and Autodesk Construction Cloud/ knowledge of NEC with familiarity in IBC IECC and life safety developing code-compliant buildable design and coordination purposeful and eager-to-learn Qualifications5 years of relevant electrical industry experience as an MEP Coordinator or Superintendent with an Electrical Journeymans Electrical License in the applicable Competencies & SkillsElectrical & Lighting DesignNational Electrical Code (NEC) working knowledgeBIM & Virtual Design CoordinationDocumentation & Technical ResearchProject Planning & Cross-Functional CollaborationStrong Written and Verbal Communication SkillsAdvanced Administrative and Computer ProficiencyEducationHigh School Diploma or GED degree in Construction Management Engineering or a related field preferred OR equivalent Certification preferred OR 2 years of professional Revit of SuccessSuccessful completion of project milestones on time and within of high-quality and accurate construction drawings and design feedback from project teams operations and collaboration across departments and effective issue Gaylor ElectricAt Gaylor Electric we are committed to innovation quality and accountability.
