NOTE: This role will not begin until January 2027.


The Early Learning Center kindergarten long-term substitute plans and implements a developmentally responsive curriculum grounded in Blakes Reggio-inspired philosophy. Through careful observation meaningful relationships child-led inquiry and intentional teaching the teacher creates rich learning experiences that cultivate curiosity critical thinking and joyful engagement while supporting strong foundations in literacy mathematics and social-emotional development.

Requirements

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement curriculum for kindergarten students and oversee student academic progress
  • Work in partnership with parents to identify students learning needs and determine the most effective support inside and outside the school setting
  • Communicate openly honestly and frequently with parents about their childrens successes and struggles
  • Document student progress in written reports
  • Oversee a classroom budget
  • Participate in divisional and all-school faculty meetings and committees
  • Attend and contribute to all-school events such as back-to-school nights and admission open houses

Working Conditions

  • Work takes place in a dynamic indoor school environment with daily time outdoors on the playground and occasional learning experiences in the schools neighboring forest.
  • The physical demands of this position reflect the active nature of early childhood education. Teachers move continuously throughout the day as they engage with children indoors and outdoors facilitate learning experiences supervise play prepare classroom environments and respond to childrens needs. The role requires frequent standing walking bending kneeling crouching sitting on the floor reaching and lifting classroom materials and equipment.
  • The work environment does not generally include hazardous conditions or exposure to excessive dust fumes chemicals or other environmental hazards. Normal classroom noise and activity levels should be expected.
