Work Schedule: Monday Friday

Position Purpose

The Deputy General Counsel IVprovidesadvanced legal guidance for EGID legal services ensuring that assigned operationscomply withrelevant state and federal laws while aligning with the agencys mission and core values. This positionadvisesagency leadership and program areas on complex legal mattersidentifiesand helps mitigate legal risks contributes to legal strategy and planning provides counsel on regulatory compliance andrepresentsor supports the agency in legal proceedings. This role requires a collaborative approach to build effective relationships across departments and with external stakeholders support sound legal decision-making andmaintainorganizational accountability.

Essential FunctionsMay Include:
  • Handle or support EGID appeals and related administrative proceedings.

  • Handle or support tax warrant intercept matters and related legal review.

  • Research analyze and interpret state and federal laws regulations rules contracts policies and guidance affecting EGID operations.

  • Provide legal counsel on complex EGID matters regulatory compliance administrative processes and legal risk mitigation.

  • Draft review and revise legal documents correspondence notices memoranda contracts policies procedures and other agency materials as assigned.

  • Present legal information clearly to agency leadership program areas external partners administrative bodies or other stakeholders.

  • Collaborate across divisions toidentifylegal issues provide practical recommendations and support consistent implementation of legal requirements.

  • Contribute to long-term legal strategy planning process improvement and issue resolution for assigned EGID legal functions.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:This positiondoes not supervise.

Knowledge Skills Abilities and Competency Requirements

The Deputy General Counsel IV requires in-depth knowledge of legal principles state and federal legislation and program administration with the ability to analyze complex legal matters and ensure regulatory compliance. This position demands excellent communication skills to collaborate across divisions and advise key stakeholders along with strategic thinking to align legal recommendations with the agencysobjectives. Education and/or Experience:
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law schoolANDa license to practice law in State of OklahomaANDan active membership with the Oklahoma Bar AssociationAND 7years of legal experience including2years of litigation or agency-defined experience in the practice of law e.g. tax or supervisory experience.

Preference Qualifications Include:
  • Certifications in any of the following areas: Healthcare Compliance (CHC) Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS) or Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP). Certification in Risk Management Certified Risk and Compliance Management Professional (CRCMP)OSHAor Facilities Management Certifications

  • Experience or certification in Project Management (PMP)

  • Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) or Mediation Certification

Physical Demands andWork Environment

Work is typically performed in an office setting with climate-controlled settings and exposure to moderate noise levels.In the course ofperforming job duties employeesare required tospeak stand walk and reach with their hands and arms. This position requires extended periods of sitting and daily use of computers and phones. Employees must be willing to complete all job-related travel associated with this position. Being present at the office is an essential function of this position.
